Leighann Narum
Leighann Narum teaches classical guitar in applied studies at Rutgers University-Newark. Ms. Narum has performed in Merkin Concert Hall in New York City, appearances in Kaufmann Concert Hall with the New York Chamber Symphony of the 92nd Street Y, playing Rodrigo’s famous Concierto de Aranjuez and as a guest of the Philharmonia Orchestra of Yale. She has also performed on numerous live radio and television broadcasts, including National Public Radio, Radio Sweden and Radio Filarmonia in Peru. Ms. Narum, who lived for nearly 5 years in Spain where she studied and later taught- has performed in Madrid’s Centro Cultural de la Villa and Fundacion Juan March. Ms. Narum, who performs throughout Europe and USA, has also toured in Peru, where she performed and gave master classes at Instituto Cultural Peruano Norteamericano for their XVII Festival International de Guitarra. Ms. Narum studied with Jeffrey Van at the University of Minnesota and with Clare Callahan at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music, where she received her Bachelor of Music degree, cum laude, and a Master of Music. Ms. Narum continued post-graduate study in Italy at Siena’s famed Accademia Musicale Chigiana with Oscar Ghiglia, who awarded her the coveted Diploma di Merito.
