Li-Chan Chen-Maxham

Lyric Soprano Li-Chan Chen-Maxham was a leading soprano in the ensemble of the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern in Germany for six consecutive seasons. She also performed with Michigan Opera Theatre, Hawaii Opera, Dayton Opera Theater in Ohio, Taipei Opera Theater, Stadttheater Gelsenkirchen in Germany, and the Stadttheater St. Gallen in Switzerland. She has performed more than twenty operatic leading roles and has sung concerts and recitals in the United States, France, Germany, Switzerland and her native country, Taiwan. She received her BA degree from The National Taiwan Normal University and M.M. in vocal performance from the Manhattan School of Music. She participated in the Merola Opera Program of the San Francisco Opera and was an Adler Fellow with the same company for two years. She was the second prize winner of the female voice division of the International Concours de Chant de Paris. Her biography is included in Marquis Who’s Who in America and she was included in the book “The Representatives of Twentieth Century Taiwanese”. She is the voice chair of New Jersey Music Teachers Association and a member of National Association for Teachers of Singing (NATS). She has been a vocal instructor at Rutgers-Newark since 2002.
