Robert Gonzalez earned a BFA in Graphic Design from Rutgers University and an MFA in Communications Design from Pratt Institute.
Robert is interested in how culture is created and divided by the relationship between our verbal and visual languages. He uses design and writing to explore this nexus and the process by which it is engendered. Type Design, one particular bridge between design and writing, is also of great interest to him.
His MFA thesis was a wellspring for his research into human perception, behavior and the creation of visual culture. He anchors this study and all of his design research in the discipline’s rich history.
In addition to teaching, Robert also currently works as a Graphic Designer in New Jersey City University’s marketing department.
Robert’s work has been included in publications such as How Magazine’s International Design Awards Annual, Five Conversations on Graphic Design & Creative Writing, and Masterclass: Graphic Design.
